David Scrivner
David has been playing traditional Missouri and Ozarks fiddle music for 25 years, including several years as a student and apprentice of renown Ozarks fiddler Bob Holt. Focused on preserving Ozarks dance and music traditions, David plays for square dances in the Ozarks and mentors less experienced musicians in the area. A native of the Ozarks, David has played with and learned from Ozarks musicians including Alvie Dooms, Gordon McCann, Kim and Jim Lansford, H.K. Silvey, Dwight Lamb, and Fred Stoneking, and other significant influences to his style include Lonnie Robertson, Cyril Stinnett, Bob Walters, and Art Galbraith. David also won the 2019 Arkansas State Old-Time Fiddling Grand Championship and represented old-time Ozarks fiddling at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington, D.C., in 2022 and 2023.
New Pleasant Valley String Band
The New Pleasant Valley String Band is one of Colorado’s premier live traditional Square Dance bands. Pulling repertoire from the Missouri Ozark square dance tradition, dancers will be carried through the evening with square dances, waltzes, two-steps and more. The band has played a major role in organizing CROMA (Central Rockies Old-Time Music Association) and its festival “The Rocky Mountain Old-Time Music Festival. Bob Zuellig
Our dance caller for the evening. Bob is a co-founder of CROMA (Central Rockies Old-Time Music Association) and is a respected fiddler and dance caller in the Missouri Ozark tradition. Bob has travelled the country calling and fiddling for dances and was invited to the Smithsonian Folklife Festival to call Ozark dances.
